corfu web design

Truetype Web Solutions evolved from a project seven years ago to put a small village in Greece on the Internet.

Pelekas, on the west coast of Corfu, is the adopted home of one of Truetype's founders. In the past, Pelekas and its attractions had been advertised around the world solely by word of mouth from one young traveller to another and once that type of tourist had moved on, Pelekas was isolated in the tourism market. Recognising that by using the Internet one could reach a massive audience very cheaply, it was decided to create a website showcasing Pelekas and its surrounding area.

With a team that included a Swedish based technical director, a graphic designer from Amsterdam, and using UK servers, the proposed site became a reality and quickly attracted visitors. This meant that cheap advertising on the site could be offered to local businesses. The site has evolved and had several redesigns over the years. It can be seen at Pelekas.com.

In 2002 a pair of Norwegian venture capitalists invested in a new company which was registered in Greece under the name Truetype Web Solutions. The first step was to expand the business to cover the rest of Corfu. With this in mind AllCorfu.com was set up. This operates on a similar basis to the Pelekas website, being a mixture of information and paid advertising. It now receives around 25,000 visitors a month and on Google.com and Google.co.uk is normally in the top five results for the search phrase “Corfu” - something we are very proud of since we have never paid for search engine ranking.

Truetype Web Solutions now has clients in Corfu, mainland Greece, Holland, Scandinavia, UK and USA. Although we have a handful of prestige clients, most of our work is with small or new businesses. We specialise in cheap, fast loading, HTML websites that seem to perform very well on the search engines.
